"If men were angels, no government would be necessary."

A very happy birthday goes out to our 4th president of these United States, James Madison. Some good Madison quotes for you all to feast on:
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors, must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or tragedy, or perhaps both."
"Let me recommend the best medicine in the world, a long journey at a mild season through a pleasant country in easy stages."
"All men having power aught to be distrusted to a certain degree."
"As long as the reason of men continues fallible, and he is at liberty to exercise it, different opinions will be formed."
"Do not separate the text from the historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government."
"The capacity of the female mind for studies of the highest order cannot be doubted, having been sufficiently illustrated by it's works of genius, of erudition, and of science."
"War contains so much folly, as well as wickedness, that much is to be hoped from the progress of reason."

That stole the only girl I loved, and drowned her deep inside of me.

Because well, this might just be the greatest song ever.
It sounds really really good.

Tell her that I miss our little talks.

I have not really been feeling the photos lately, so expect some more of my musical discoveries over the next little while. This is one I just discovered recently, called "Little Talks" by a band called Of Monsters and Men. I love the jaunty tone and the duet dynamic between the two singers. It's so unusual for a pop song and it fresh to hear.

Behold the Hurricane

Also from the Horrible Crowes, check out "Behold the Hurricane", another real beaut of a track more catchy and poppy than "Ladykiller" This whole album is really deep and layered and every song flows like an Ezra Pound poem, just really heavy, meaningful stuff.

Never seen me a woman, turn a deeper shade of blue

Yeah, I suck at blogging. During the meantime, feast your ears on this: "Ladykiller" by the Horrible Crowes. Really fantastic side project of the Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon, beautiful moody stuff that I'm totally addicted to.
