The Post in Which I Wish I Could Windmill Like Pete Townshend

Welcome to the musings of a classic rock lover, wannabe punk rocker, hardcore hippie, football lovin, baseball watching chick. In this blog I will just talk about whatever is relevent to me at that moment. Today I'm gonna start my list of my 20 favorite songs. (The list changes often)

#1. Let it Be-The Beatles
This song has such a simple and beautiful message-just let it be. Everything will sort itself out, just let it be.
Paul McCartney wrote this song after he had a dream in which his mother appeared to him and told him to "Let it be." The song features Paul at the piano, John Lennon playing bass, George on guitars, Ringo on drums, and Billy Preston playing the organ. It has many cover versions by artists such as John Denver, Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers (of "Lean on Me" fame), Carol Woods and Timothy Mitchum from the movie "Across the Universe", Joan Baez and others. My favorite out of all of these is the version from "Across the Universe". The addition of the gospel choir really added another demention to the meaning of the song.
When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.
Let it be, let it be...
And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, .....
